events, from violin concertos with star violinists and orchestra to chamber
music in exquisite locations as well as outreach and schools activities,
masterclasses and exhibitions.

Friday 11 April - Opening Concert Joshua Bell, Maxim Vengerov
& Catrin Finch @ St David’s Hall 7.30pm

Maxim Vengerov will take to the podium to conduct
for Joshua Bell in the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, along with dazzling
performances by Akiko Ono and Hrachya Avanesyan, winners of the Menuhin
Competition 2000 and 2006. The evening also sees the world premiere of "Elegy
for Arthur" composed by Mervyn Burtch with libretto by Mark Morris. Commissioned
for the Competition - performed by "Queen of Harps" Catrin Finch and
one of Wales' most innovative choirs Serendipity.

violin obligato and Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26.

unforgettable Gala and Prize Giving concert together with the winners of the
Menuhin Competition 2008 and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera under the
baton of Joji Hattori.
