The repertoire of the Junior 1st Round demands enormous stylistic versatility
and technical skills in these young, and extremely talented players. Eleven
international artists under the age of 16 will present their talent to jury and
audience alike with works from two very different musical eras including a new

Lunchtime Seminar—Enhancing Performance
12.30-1.30pm, Royal
Welsh College of Music & Drama
In celebration of 25 years of the Menuhin Competition, the RWCMD presents a
series of lunchtime seminars focusing on areas that were of particular interest
and importance to Yehudi Menuhin.
To start the series, Matthew Jones, RWCMD Walton Fellow, and Dr Alan Watson
discuss ‘healthy performance’ and alternative approaches to maintaining an
injury-free performing lifestyle; reflecting Yehudi Menuhin’s own interest in
tackling performance stress through yoga.
