Dear
Susanne,
Time has been
flying and it's nearly Christmas. I am writing this newsletter from
Oslo where I am catching up with the Norwegian Menuhin team, who have
been incredibly busy.
A successful
press-launch of the 2010 competition in Oslo combined with a recital by
last year's Senior 2nd Prize winner Jiafeng Chen on 2nd December
has kicked off the homerun to next year's competition.
Only 4 months
to go, so start planning your trip to Oslo - it's going to be a
competition not to be missed.
But as I sit
here in Oslo with snow falling gently, let me take this opportunity to
wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New
Year.

Competitors from 11 different
nations chosen for Oslo 2010
|
|
This year saw 140 entries from
29 nations. From these, 42 competitors have been chosen by an
international pre-selection jury panel. The jurors were Erich
Gruenberg (UK), Gordon Back (UK) and Olivier Charlier
(France)
"With so much talent, it's hard work to pick the
best players. We have been listening to each audition recording to
identify the strongest candidates and we are extremely pleased with the
results. The competitors represent 11 nations with America, China and
Korea contributing most players. But I am also very pleased to say that
we will have five Norwegians going forward to the competition in Oslo."
explains Competition Director Gordon Back.
A list of next year's competitors will be available on
our website later in
January.

We have added the event section with
venue details and maps for the 2010 competition and for anyone who
would like to read Norwegian -

Academy of Music which displays some of our pages' content in
Norwegian.
We're happy to hear your feedback!
