Yu-Ting Chen

20, Taiwan

Yu-Ting Chen is studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in violin performance at the Curtis Institute of Music under the tutelage of Ida Kavafian and Shmuel Ashkenasi. Her previous studies were in Taiwan with I-Ching Li and Chun-Yinh Lee. She has played in many halls in her native Taiwan, including the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Recital Hall, and performed with international orchestras: a future highlight Is a performance with the Cape Symphony Orchestra in 2016. She has also been top prizewinner at competitions, most recently at the 2nd Stradivarius International Violin Competition (2012).

“The Menuhin Competition gives many young artists a chance to show their talent and work on some new repertoire. I am excited to be going to such a prestigious competition. Also, I am looking forward to meeting many great musicians and playing chamber music with them.
