Two London 2016 Competitors Performed Surprise Commuter Concert At St Pancras International Station
Two Menuhin 100 competitors surprised Southeastern‘s passengers when they performed on Platforms 11-13 at St Pancras International Station.
The two teenagers, 15 year-old Louisa Staples who is British and lives in London, and Japanese 13 year-old Coco Tomita played a stunning repertoire including works by Bartók and Haydn, and some of their own personal favourites.
These two young ladies have certainly had an exciting day, that started with an appearance on Sky News, where they shared their thoughts on what music means to them, and how playing the violin has shaped their lives – a very inspiring news story that you can re-watch here.
The Menuhin Competition London 2016 is delighted that Southeastern is lending its support to the 11-day Festival (7-17 April 2016) that will fill London with world class music, world premieres, exhibitions, family events, masterclasses and outreach programmes – with the Competition events at its heart.
Mark Anderson, Head of Marketing at Southeastern said: “We are very happy to have hosted two exceptionally talented young musicians at St Pancras International Station and support this year’s Menuhin Competition. We aim to make our passenger’s experiences as enjoyable as possible, and what better way to enhance this than surprising them with some fantastic classical music on their journeys home.”
