Johan Dalene performs at inaugural Festival of Jewish Arts & Music
On 8th September Johan Dalene, winner of the Junior 3rd Prize, will perform with The Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra at Kings Place as part of the Jewish Music Institute’s inaugural Festival of Jewish Arts and Music.
The evening’s event, “Celebrating Menuhin”, features an all-star line up to celebrate the glorious diversity of Lord Menuhin’s extraordinary legacy.
In the first half of the concert Johan and The Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra will perform two of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The Orchestra will also perform music by Menuhin’s teacher George Enescu, as well as a new piece by Malcolm Singer, who is Director of Music at the school. This was specially commissioned for Menuhin’s centenary and is for seven violins.
Check out Johan’s stunning performance of Winter in the Junior Final to get a flavour of what is in store.
The second half of the concert, programmed by violinist and JMI Artistic Director Sophie Solomon, includes Tcha Limberger (violin), John Etheridge (original hot-club guitarist on Menuhin/Grappelli recordings), Dave Kelbie (rhythm guitar), Andy Crowdy (bass), Sheema Mukherjee (sitar) and Flora Curzon (violin) celebrating the musical diversity of the violin across genres. Our friends that were able to join us for The Alternative Menuhin at JW3 in April know what a treat this will be!
