The next edition of the Menuhin Competition will take place in Richmond, Virginia, from 14 – 24 May 2020. Applications are now open and we can’t wait to receive applications from talented young violinists all over the world!

Can you imagine yourself as one of our 44 participants? The Menuhin Competition is open to violinists of any nationality under the age of 22, so your date of birth must be after 24 May 1998.

The deadline for applications is October 31, 2019 at 12 noon GMT. Full details of the rules and repertoire can be found here.

The international jury panel of the Menuhin Competition Richmond 2020 will be Pamela Frank (Chair, USA), Joji Hattori (Vice Chair, Japan/Austria), Noah Bendix-Balgley (USA/Germany), Ray Chen (Australia), Aaron Dworkin (USA), Ning Feng (China/Germany), Ralph Kirshbaum (USA), Anton Nel (South Africa/USA) and Soyoung Yoon (South Korea/Switzerland).

A unique aspect of the Menuhin Competition is that jurors will perform and give masterclasses to competitors. The Senior Finals and Closing Gala Concert are featured in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra’s subscription series, and the Opening Gala Concert and Junior Finals are available as subscription enhancers.
