Catching up with Christian Li after his UK debut tour
Christian Li, joint winner of Geneva 2018 Junior 1st Prize, has had a very busy summer!
Christian performed his debut tour of the UK this summer, performing recitals at the Gower Festival, Harrogate International Festivals and Cheltenham Music Festival and a recital and collaboration with the string ensemble at Wellington College. At each concert, Christian’s incredible musicality inspired the audiences to give standing ovations, with reports of multiple audience members moved to tears by his playing.

After his tour completed, Christian travelled back to London with his mother for a holiday. Before he started sightseeing, Christian treated the Menuhin Competition Trust team and the team at Classic FM to a private performance of Nathan Milstein’s arrangement of Chopin’s Nocturne No. 20 in C-sharp minor, which was filmed by Classic FM:
The Classic FM team invited Christian on a tour of their studios, giving him an opportunity to learn about radio broadcasting and meet legendary Classic FM presenter John Suchet.

After a well-deserved holiday seeing the sights of London (the Science Museum having been his favourite destination!), Christian is travelling on to Israel to participate in the Keshet Eilon International String Mastercourse. A recipient of the 2019 Nora Goodridge Scholarship, Christian will spend three weeks working with highly regarded international teachers and performing in workshops and concerts.
Speaking to Limelight Magazine, Christian said: “I am so excited since I know I will meet some famous teachers and a lot of talented young musicians there. I will have the chance to watch great performances and I believe I will enjoy it. […] I like travelling and exploring different cultures. This is my first time to Israel, I want to know everything about this country: music, people and religion.”
We can’t wait to see what’s next from Christian and wish him all the best for his time in Israel!
