“It was my dream to be a part of the competition, and I was very much excited and jumping when I heard that my application was successful. I am also very excited to visit England since I have never been there. I am sure that it will be a wonderful experience to be there and feel the atmosphere of the European city.
Menuhin Competition is the first international competition I applied. I am already nervous and very excited for this upcoming event. I know that many famous violists have challenged this competition, and I am very glad that I will be able to be in the same competition as they did.
What I am looking forward to the most is to perform Dovorak chamber music with your official chamber musicians. I do not have enough experience performing chamber music since I do not have string players or friends who play instruments around me. I thought this would be a great chance for me to learn more chamber music when I saw Dovorak or Vivaldi in the repertoires.
I am practicing and learning the repertoires including the chamber music and sonata which I do not have enough experience with. I would like to touch the hearts of listener with my performance. I hope you would enjoy my playing.
Again, I really appreciate you giving me such a wonderful opportunity.
Thank you very much.” (Mahiru Moriyama)
