13 April 2016 – Tribute to Enescu – A recital for violin and piano

Remus Azoitei (violin)
Eduard Stan (piano)

Brahms Violin Sonata No.2 in A, Op. 100
Enescu Violin Sonata No. 3 in A minor, Op. 25 “In Romanian Folk Character”

Violinist Remus Azoitei and pianist Eduard Stan are two of the foremost specialists of the life and music of Menuhin’s teacher and friend George Enescu, having together recorded the first ever entire repertoire of Enescu’s works for violin and piano.

Enescu was accepted as a student at the Vienna Conservatoire aged 7 and was conducted by Brahms during his studies and always credited this experience as a great influence on his compositions. In turn, Menuhin considered Enescu’s Third Sonata to be his finest work.
