We are saddened to share the news that Zamira Menuhin Benthall, our beloved Life Patron and daughter of Yehudi Menuhin, has passed away at the age of 84.
The Honourable Zamira Menuhin Benthall passed away peacefully at her home on 31st July at the age of 84. Zamira was a key figure in continuing the legacy of her father, Yehudi Menuhin, and supported the Competition as Life Patron after many years of service as a Trustee. Alongside her devotion to the Menuhin Competition, Zamira was also a supporter of the Yehudi Menuhin School and president of Live Music Now, both projects founded by her father.
We are deeply saddened to learn of her passing. She was a key figure and a beloved member of the Menuhin Competition family, who spent many years supporting our endeavour to provide opportunities for young violinists. Zamira was deeply passionate about the arts and worked throughout her life to make the arts accessible to all.
She will be greatly missed by all and we will remember her for her wisdom, kindness and humanitarian values. We send our deepest condolences to her family.
